對于MS密封膠來說，在耐候性方面擁有明顯的優(yōu)勢，這主要是由其分子結構決定的。在常用的密封材料中，聚氨醋的主鏈為C-0鍵，C-C鍵和C-N鍵，其中C-C鍵的鍵能約為348kJ/mol;MS密封膠的主鏈化學鍵則為Si-0鍵(鍵能對比圖1所示)，鍵能大約為445kJ/mol。而宇宙中輻射到地球表面的最強紫外線波段處于UVB，其波長典型值約為300nm。根據(jù)得知，其能量為399kJ/mol。

也就是說，照射到地球表面能量最高的紫外線不足以破壞MS密封膠的Si-0主鏈結構，保證了其良好的耐紫外生能。與之相反，該紫外線能量可以破壞聚氨醋的主鏈結構，導致其在使用一段時間過后，會出現(xiàn)不同程度的開裂，從而造成漏水，影響使用效果。

由于我國幅員遼闊，緯度跨度較大，從海南到黑龍江的溫差也較大。因此，預制建筑板片接縫用密封材料也要具備溫度適應性及低溫柔性。

對于MS密封膠來說，其分子結構上的Si-0鍵較長，且硅原子上的甲基間距比較大，因此可以自由的進行旋轉(zhuǎn)。此外，甲基上的氫原子在低溫下有很高的運動性，這種運動主要圍繞Si-C鍵旋轉(zhuǎn);而且氫原子占據(jù)的空間自由體積大，與臨近分子間距大，分子間作用力小。這些化學結構上的特點都使得MS密封膠具有良好的低溫柔性。http://www.m.n5224.cn/
